Hmm....this lack-of-posting-consistency thing I was worried about has happened quite quickly, but I`m back (for now).
Recommendation:
"Capsize" from the "Where The Wild Things Are" Soundtrack by Karen O and the Kids.
Karen O is one of my favorite singers, because I`m a diehard Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan, this song is one of my faves off the soundtrack, based on the track listing, it will coincide with a scene very early in the movie. Give it a listen!

Song of the Day:
Dimmu Borgir - "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse"
You know how sometimes people annoy you in the Subway and you kind of want to get back at them in a semi-inadvertent way? Playing this song really loud next to them does the trick. Bonus points if you are watching the NSFW video too while sitting next to them.
Also....heh...I went from Phoenix to Thom Yorke to a Swedish Death Metal band....gotta live musical diversity

Song of the day for 09/25/09
Thom Yorke - "All for the best"
Radiohead are one of my favorite bands, they were definitely an acquired taste, as I didn`t initially like them. It took me a while to adjust to Thom Yorke`s falsetto voice, but once I did, I could see why they`re considered so great.
This song is a solo outing for singer Thom Yorke, and if you read the context in which the song was made you`ll find quite a sad story behind it. Read all about it here:

Love the drum beat that starts and is prevalent throughout the whole song, very similar sounding to "These are my twisted words". Rather emotional song once you realize the context.

Song of the day for 09/24/09
Phoenix - "1901"
My first song of the day recommendation! I`m really digging Phoenix`s "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" record where this song is from, and truth be told, I wasn't aware of them until this album. Now I know what I missed out as I dove into their back catalog.
Can also be heard in a current car commercial on TV for Cadillac! Looks like Phoenix are on their way.

Welcome to my song of the day BLOG!!!
Hi, I`m going to be the author of this blog, thank you for visiting first of all!
My name is........well lets call me Mr N. As I stated above, I initially wanted this to be the "Song of the day" blog, but someone has already taken up that URL *(and it hasnt been active since 2001 :( )
So in order to get a somewhat unique URL, I decided to tag my Date of Birth at the end. Hopefully it wont confuse people and have them come here expecting to see throwbacks to their favorite songs from the heyday of 1987. That`s simply not the case, what this blog is about is very simple...and rather self explanatory.
Every day (I`ll try to be as consistent as possible), I will post the title of a song I`m currently digging that I think everyone should give a listen to. My recommendations wont be too obscure, but I will delve into the indie world at times, I also have varying musical tastes so it can go from Death Metal to Indie Acoustic to underground rap - my main goal is to recommend a song that is worth listening to and that is somewhat catchy. It wont all be new songs either, most of it will be songs from the past, "gems" as I like to refer to them, dont be surprised if you`re well aware of some of the songs I`m recommending. But occasionally I`ll try to expose something new (and good). Comments/thoughts/reflections/criticisims on the song of the day are appreciated.
I will do by best to embed youtube videos of the song I`m recommending and if time permits, include an Mp3 direct download link for each song. I foresee potential legal ramifications for that....but hey....its worth a shot!
